Most Challenging Poses

Wednesday June 14, 2006
Sure there are poses that will probably take me many more years of practice to perfect (Hanumanasana, anyone?) but the one that really gets me has got to be Revolved Triangle. Something about the hamstring stretch combined with the twist from the belly...it's not pretty! (Unlike the pose demonstrated here by my lovely model.) What poses have you all worked up right now?

It’s mainly the transitions that normally give me the hardest time…like transitioning tittibhasana to bakasana

Well, that’s a very difficult transition, unless you happen to be Ana Forrest! Funny you mention it though, Tittibhasana is slated to be the next pose of the week.

Holy cow! I just realized that your model is facing backward on this pose! Don’t think I could do this one very well. I do need some poses that keep my hamstrings and calves limber, though, as I lift weights and as I build muscle, I’m finding that my limbs are tighter and the stretches more difficult.

I find any hip openers on my left side to be really frustrating. knee-to-ankle, pigeon variations, anything. but it is these hurdles that make yoga worth doing i guess.
