Shoulderstand is the Pose of the Week

Sunday August 6, 2006
Shoulderstand is often the first inversion yoga students try. It is a good pose for intermediate students because balance is not as much of an issue as in Headstand, so you can get all the benefits of inverting without worrying so much about falling. One exception - anyone suffering from neck pain should skip this pose.

Actually the first “inversion” yoga students try is Adho Mukha Svanasana which is referred to as Downward Facing Dog.

Thank goodness you’ve diplayed the pose with the appropriate props. Whew!
