I've been doing Cobra Pose for many years now, but I recently experienced this pose in an entirely new way. It's not that I was doing the pose wrong, but I couldn't figure out how to deepen the posture. Then I took a class where the teacher had us undulate in and out of the pose, bringing the forehead to the mat and then coming back up three times. All of a sudden, I figured out how to access a part of my back that I couldn't before, and also how to really press the tops of my feet down. I'm so excited about this technique, I've been telling everyone (the yogis, anyway) I know about it. Lucky for you, Cobra is also the next pose in the Yoga for Back Pain Series II, so make sure to check out Back Pain Guide Anne Asher's article on Cobra for Back Pain.Comments
