Side Crow - Parsva Bakasana is the Yoga Pose of the Week

Side Crow is such a fun pose. Once you figure out the balance and how to set up your arms, this pose is rock solid. This is actually the "starter" version of the pose. In the more advanced variation, all your weight is balanced on just one arm (see the advanced options on the pose page for instructions on how to do this), rather than distributed between both your arms. As you might imagine, that version is a little tougher!

It looks like this is a pose that people with weak wrists or carpal tunnel could not do? Is this correct, or are you relying more on your arm muscles? Thanks! :)

It’s arm strength and core strength but mostly just figuring out how to arrange your body so that your bones are doing most of the weight bearing. But it is a lot of pressure on the wrists. Those with weak wrists can work to strengthen them, but I would not recommend this pose to people with carpal tunnel. I have an article on this:
