Yoga at Home
Tuesday October 30, 2007
I'd love to be able to go to a yoga class every day, but I just don't have the time, plus it can get expensive. I do get on my mat just about every day though. Even if it's only for a few minutes, it makes a big difference. Find out how you can start doing yoga at home too.

I have a great interest in yoga and it’s benefits and have been reading as much of the information that you have here to get into it but I have a few problems with getting started. A major issue is I don’t have a class I can attend within an hour drive and do not really have the money to spend on it either. I was wondering what I can do to get into it and learn how to do the basics so I can progress from there on my own.
That’s a tough one. Many people do learn from books and videos, but it can be difficult to know whether you are doing things correctly. One book I recommend is Yoga The Iyengar Way. It has great photos and instruction on poses. Maybe someone else knows of a great introductory video?
I know it sounds stupid, but I really liked “Yoga for Dummies.” It was informative and the instructer wasn’t as, ah, annoying as most DVD instructors.
Interesting! I will have the check out the DVD, because I like the Yoga for Dummies book. I’ve been meaning to post a review of it, so thanks for reminding me.
I am 75 years old. Is yoga good for me? If so what type.
Take a look at this article for guidence on how to start doing yoga:
