Lizard Pose - Utthan Pristhasana Is the Yoga Pose of the Week

Sunday May 18, 2008
Lizard pose is such an intense hip opener on the front leg than the back leg often gets ignored. Once you are able to get hunkered down in the pose pretty comfortably, show your back leg some love. Don't let the back knee sag towards the floor: keep the thigh engaged and the knee lifting. You can pretend someone is pressing down on your hamstring and you are pressing back up in response, or, better yet, recruit a friend (neighbor, loved one, small child) to apply that bit of pressure for real.
