Arjuna's Dilemma
Thursday October 2, 2008
I am just getting through last Sunday's New York Times (yes, it takes me a week to read the paper) and I came across an article in the Arts section about recent operatic productions based on the Bhagavad Gita. Prominent composers including John Adams and Philip Glass have been inspired by the story of the Gita. Some of the singing in a new production entitled "Arjuna's Dilemma" is in Sanskrit and the music incorporates traditional Indian instruments like tabla drums.
