Speaking of Religion...

As we just were in the previous post, Muslims in Malaysia may be banned from doing yoga if clerics find that it involves "religious elements" of Hinduism. Chief among their concerns seems to be the chanting of mantras. As I've written previously, I tend to focus more on the sounds than meanings when chanting, but it certainly is one of the more devotional aspects of yoga. In general, I'd advise anyone uncomfortable with chanting to avoid classes where it is practiced, but I doubt that would hold much weight with Muslim clerics.
