The Flexibility Myth
Friday November 21, 2008
Many people who haven't tried yoga (especially men) think they can't do it because they are not flexible. But the idea that you need to be flexible to do yoga is a myth. Yoga is designed to improve flexibility, since it's early purpose was to allow practitioners to sit longer in meditation before becoming too uncomfortable.

I’m glad to read that you need to be flexible to do yoga. Precisely why I am online looking up yoga. I am interested in taking the class at the gym, but was questioning candicy to do so.
I agree you don’t need to be flexible for yoga – it is one of its goals.
In my Rolfing practice, I am always encouraging clients to enhance their experience of Rolfing with yoga.
Yoga is great for teaching us how to relax and how to breathe.
Very useful and nice information. Thanks.
