This article in the New York Times looks at how yoga teachers are trying to inject humor into their classes, countering yoga's reputation as overly serious. Maybe it's the influence of laughter yoga?

This is a great idea. Laughter helps to relax our muscles, especially our facial muscles that get so tense when we are concentrating on the perfect pose. It also helps us mentally let go and realize that life is not so serious and I believe that laughing together in a class builds community and closeness. Thanks for bringing this up.
