Four Corners of the Feet

Wednesday October 14, 2009

I've recently noticed that I've picked up a bad habit: putting more weight in the outside of my foot than the inside when I'm standing. I think it's something I do when I'm carrying more weight, as when I was pregnant and now toting around a 20 pound infant for a good part of the day. I'm trying to remind myself to redistribute my weight when I catch myself doing it, because my feet are starting to hurt. Tonight in yoga class, I paid particular attention in standing balances like ardha chandrasana, where there is often a tendency to roll towards the outside of the foot. Standing on all four corners of the feet makes your poses more balanced and your arches much happier.
