As About.com's guide to yoga, I usually relish the opportunity to do some field work, like road testing the latest yoga gear and attending classes in the newest styles. I've dangled from the ceiling in a silky hammock and avoided capsizing a paddle board. I wore the underpants and the ToeSox, though not at the same time. I'm pretty much game for anything yoga.
Except Bikram. Though I flirted with hot yoga a few years back, I've never been able to talk myself into going full Bikram. And now, thanks to Benjamin Lorr's new book, Hell-Bent, I feel completely justified in claiming a pass on that one, and its off-shoot, competitive yoga. After reading this book, I know things about Bikram that I didn't even know I didn't know. Plus, it's a smart, compelling read. Check it out.
