In a pose like prasarita padottanasana, it's easy to get distracted by the fact that some people can get their heads to the floor and start thinking that's the goal of the pose. I often see people with their feet really far apart in an effort to get that head to the ground. My teacher recently challenged us to keep the legs at about a ninety degree angle in this pose. That way you get a good hamstring stretch and it's a safer position for the hip joints.
