The back and forth on William Broad's book The Science of Yoga (my review here) has resumed in the wake of the book's recent publication in paperback. Broad himself stoked the fire with new articles in The New York Times, which can only have been calculated to sell more books. Ironically, one such article is an excerpt from the book's new afterward about how surprised he was at the yoga community's reaction the first time around. Well played, Mr. Broad. There's not much new ground being covered here, with one notable exception: Timothy McCall has published a reaction. McCall, the medical editor at Yoga Journal, has expertise and a perspective worth considering.
