Why I Love It
I love this pose because I struggle to master it. I remember the very first time I saw this pose, before I even took up yoga, at that particular time i was doing pilates and yogalates; following one of Louise Soloman's classes on dvd, an australian teacher that apparently used to teach yoga many moons ago until she developed an unfortunate back injury from a class she was attending. Anyway, i was doing one of her DVD's as mentioned before one afternoon, the class went down into Chaturanga, i suddenly stopped and looked at the screen mesmerised by that fact that this woman had so much power in her arms. Over the years my arms have naturally become stronger through doing plank which i used to detest but love now and always look forward to doing plank, this has no doubt increased my strength and i am slowly beginning to see a vast improvement in the Chaturanga pose and like all the wonderful challenging poses in yoga one day when my body is ready I shall be able walk even taller knowing that I have achieved something new in life.
Advice
- Keep persevering - and never push your body.
