In a class I took recently, we were hunkered down in lizard pose when the teacher said, "feel free to move in to albatross pose, if that's a part of your practice." Seasoned yogi that I like to think myself, I had to glance around the room to see if anyone was going to go for it before I decided if it was in my practice or not, because I'd never heard of a pose called albatross before. We covered the topic of poses with multiple names in our advice column awhile back and, basically, it happens all the time. In this instance, I was pleased to see that I knew this pose by another name: eka pada koundinyasana II. Live and learn.
