Benefit Health Media
The Yoga Fan is by Adrienne Burke, Jill Camera and Kristin Leal.
The Yoga Fan is part of a series published by Benefit Health Media, which includes the popular Training Fan. The premise is that these books are compact and easy to use on the go. Measuring 8.5 x 2 x 7/8 inches, the Yoga Fan is indeed a nice size. Its design, in which 70 cards spread out to form a fan, is also a plus, making it easy to compare poses side by side.

The fan consists primarily of cards on individual poses, each with an illustrative photo and excellent instructions on how to do the pose. There’s more photos and information on the back of each page, but the fan design makes accessing these pages a little awkward. The photographs, although small, are particularly strong because they clearly show the ideal way to do each pose. There is also good information on the chakras, anatomy and meditation. The fan is intended to allow you to customize a session of yoga at home, but it works best as a comprehensive reference on basic yoga poses and concepts. As such, it’s as great item that any yogi would be pleased to have on hand.
