My Favorite Pose
The Downward dog variation where we take turns lifting one leg up, stretch it as high as it can go, then turn out our hips and turn our head to look up our armpit to the ceiling, then flex your toes towards your knee as you bend the knee of the raised leg and drop it so the ankle touches your bottom cheek.
Why I Love It
It is just so joyous and takes me back to the wonder of being a kid and doing joyful things with my body. Very liberating. It is the opposite of being old. I have on a couple of occasions been in this pose and the instructor has moved on to other poses and I have been so committed to this one I did not hear him. I never felt embarrassed about this though as I am just so into enjoying the pose.
Advice
- *To just channel the carefree child in you when you do this pose and exaggerate the stretch to the underside [stomach, hips, shoulders and thighs] of your body to get maximum value out of it.
